Martina y Conjunto La Suerte

Martina Y Conjunto La Suerte are from the South Texas town of Beeville, Texas. Martina Garcia aka “La Martina” has been performing for over three decades. She was recently inducted into the Tejano ROOTS Hall of Fame as Female Vocalist. In addition to her talents as lead singer and band leader, Martina also composes most of her own material. She has quite a command of the Spanish language and is often hired as a translator to convert business and commercial documents into the Spanish language.

 

The South Texas Conjunto, La Suerte was started in the early 90’s by Martina and her late husband Sam. After a long illness, it was his wish that after his passing she carry on the tradition. She and her group, continued to perform on a weekly basis throughout the South Texas region until Martina was diagnosed with a rare form a cancer. Although she is still undergoing chemo and radiation treatments, Martina is determined to continue fighting, in her words “As long as God gives me strength, I’m going to fight this thing”. CHR is proud to have this strong and determined lady on our label.
